Viral Transport Media (VTM) is designed to be an optimal environment for preserving the viability of the target analyte during transportation and storage. It has been widely used during covid-19 to transport the SARS-CoV-2 for PCR test since SARS-CoV-2 is extremely unstable and degrades easily. Camshield can provide our clients VTM kit including VTM prefilled tube, oral and nasal swab, transport bag, absorbent pad ane, etc.
All components of the VTM kits, including the composition of the VTM solution, are customizable.

A collection tube containing 3 ml of preservation cocktails and a sampling swab (CE approved).
Two different formulations of preservation cocktails:
Type A：Kit with Virus Inactivation: Tris, non-denatured detergent mix, EDTA, DTT and preservative cocktails
Type B：Kit with Virus Protection. HEPES, KH2PO4, KCL, NaCl, NaHCO3, Na2HPO4.12H2O, Glucose, Phenol Red, and preservative cocktails
Physical and Chemical Properties
Appearance and properties: Type A: colorless liquid; Type B: pink or orange liquid. No visible precipitation. pH: 6.7-7.8
Solubility: miscible with water and alcohol, insoluble in chloroform, ether and oil.
Main use: two kinds of kits for virus detection, the stored samples
will not interfere with downstream analysis.
1.Type A, containing preservatives that inactivate pathogens (such as viruses) and protect RNA / DNA samples from degradation.
Samples can be stored at room temperature for at least 7 days.
2. Type B, keep pathogens intact, such as COVID-19. The formula will not kill pathogens (such as viruses). Samples can be stored at room temperature for at least 7 days.

VTM Collection Kit: Viral transport medium is a liquid-form collection and transport system suitable for the maintenance of nasopharyngeal swab specimens in virus sampling tubes. Nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs) are generally not available upon sample collection, and thus VTM is used for the transport of viral specimens.
